Basketball Brooks Savage - favorite at ETSU

Here's the tweet from Goodman:

I hate being the guy who always says "there's no surprise here" and I'm going to do it here. Brooks Savage has been ready to be a head coach and this is a move that was going to be more expected with the more years he spent on Wake's bench. He's had just about every role possible on a college basketball staff.

My first inclination isn't for Jason Shay to go back to the assistant role; kind of think he'd rather stick with his current schedule. So I'd think Steve Forbes will look for an offensive-minded coach to bring in.

WF baseball -- opening weekend

Baseball season is upon us and it's still the freaking winter!

Wake's season opener is on Friday, kicking off a 4-game weekend. Here's the season preview from last week, ICYMI.

I'll be out there Friday, schedule- and weather-permitting. I'm not sure how many games I'll get to this season, especially while basketball season is still going, but I want to make sure I'm there from the start.

I'm trying to crank out a couple of quick stories on Brock Wilken and Rhett Lowder before Friday. Hopefully will have those up today or tomorrow.

The rotation this weekend will be: Rhett Lowder-Teddy McGraw-Michael Massey-Josh Hartle. So that's Lowder against Youngstown State on Friday, McGraw against Illinois on Saturday, and then Massey (the Tulane transfer) and Hartle against Youngstown State and Illinois in Sunday's doubleheader, respectively.

WF baseball -- week of 2/20

Happy Tuesday, toughest academic day for Wake Forest.

Wake's baseball team is at UNCG tonight and then has another 4-game weekend - against Binghamton on Friday, a Saturday doubleheader against Mount St. Mary's and Towson, and then a Sunday game against Mount St. Mary's.

In trying to find some work/home life balance and because it's still basketball season, I won't be at any of these games. Will still have recaps posted.

Moving into news ...

WF is hopeful that Jake Reinisch will be back for the weekend; and they're TBD on Teddy McGraw, but he's not going to pitch this weekend.

Basketball Jim Boeheim NIL comments; WF moving forward

It dawns on me I should've fired up this thread a day and a half ago, my bad.

Here's the story from today's teleconference.

It says WF -- Steve Forbes, specifically -- is moving forward. As you'd basically expect, based on Boeheim walking back his comments a few hours after the ESPN story was published.

I've got more feelings here that I'm going to try to work into a My Take sometime this week, probably after tomorrow night's game. If I don't get around to publishing the column, I'll at least dump thoughts into here.
