Patrick Frick has reached base in 10 consecutive plate appearances, including a 4-for-4 effort on Sunday afternoon.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest scored in six of its eight turns at bat to clinch the series over UMass Lowell with a 14-7 win over UMass Lowell at David F. Couch Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.

The Demon Deacons (5-7) scored in each of the first five innings and added four more runs in the eighth, recording season-highs in runs and hits (14) to defeat the River Hawks (3-7).

Patrick Frick led the way for Wake Forest, going 4-for-4 with a walk, hit by pitch and three RBIs. With walks in his last four plate appearances in Saturday, he has now reached base in 10 consecutive trips to the plate.

DJ Poteet, Bobby Seymour, Shane Muntz and Christian Long also added two hits apiece, while Johnny Aiellohomered, hit a sac fly and was hit by a pitch. Long also reached base all five times he came to the plate, totaling two hits, two RBIs and three walks.

Wake Forest put up crooked numbers in the second, third, fifth and eighth innings. In the second, Frick hit an RBI single to knock in Long, and Harvey scored on an error, to put the Deacs ahead, 3-2.

The Deacs made it 5-2 in the third on an Aiello opposite-field longball and a Long RBI single.

After a pair of Deacon errors helped UML tie the game at 5-5 in the top of the fourth, a Jake Mueller RBI single put Wake Forest ahead for good in the bottom of the inning.

Wake Forest broke open for four runs in the fifth on a Frick RBI single, a Poteet two-run double off the wall, and a run-scoring passed ball to push the lead to 10-5.

An RBI triple and sac fly for the River Hawks cut that margin to 10-7 in the sixth, but Wake Forest added insurance in the eighth with run-scoring walks by Long and Zach Seal, an RBI single by Frick and sac fly by Poteet.

Colin Peluse started for Wake Forest and struck out the side in the first before running into trouble the next three innings. He finished with 4.0 innings pitched, five runs allowed (three earned) on six hits and a walk, and six strikeouts.

Bobby Hearn (1-1) earned the win in relief, while Tyler Witt (2.0 innings) and Rayne Supple (1.0 inning) recorded scoreless outings out of the pen.

UMass Lowell starter Henry Funaro (1-2) took the loss, surrendering six runs in 3.0 frames.

The Deacs hit the road for their annual spring break trip to Coastal Carolina on Wednesday, with first pitch set for 4 p.m.
