Koron Hayward didn’t get a ton of opportunities during the 2021 season, but when he did, he made the most of it. The 6-foot, 5-inch, 198-pound, receiver secured 14 receptions for 197 with five touchdowns carrying an impressive 28.1 yard per reception average in stats posted through eight games. The Mandarin High School standout has been flying under the radar, but all of that is changing.

Wake Forest has been on Hayward since September, but it was UAB that dropped the first offer in mid-January. Hayward spoke about the moment.

“One of the most amazing things in my life,” Hayward said. “I felt like I deserved it. It was hard to get it. It was a great feeling.”

The Blazers gave Hayward feedback on why they offered him.

“They like that I am a big guy and a ball hawk,” Hayward shared. “I know how to go get the ball.”

Hayward reports interest from Wake Forest, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Coastal Carolina and Mississippi State with planned stops at Wake and UAB. Hayward spoke on why he is interested in the Deamon Deacons.

“They are good, I love the program and the coaches – coach (Kevin) Higgins (WR) and all their coaches,” Hayward said.

There are some repeat teams from the interest category plus a couple more stopping by his Jacksonville high school campus for a meeting: Coastal Carolina, Mississippi State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, and UCF.
