Sunday Okeke Joins Demon Deacon Recruiting Class
6’8” forward comes to Wake Forest as a non-scholarship player

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –
Wake Forest head coach Danny Manning announced Friday (Apr. 14) the addition of forward Sunday Okeke to the Demon Deacons’ 2017 recruiting class. Okeke will join the program in 2017-18 as a non-scholarship player.

The 6-8 native of Nigeria has played the past four years at Greens Farms Academy in Westport, Conn. Okeke scored 1,219 points during his career and set a school record with 1,195 career rebounds. During his senior season, he averaged 15.4 points, 14.1 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game while earning all-league honors.

“We are excited about the addition of Sunday as a preferred walk-on to our team,” said Manning. “He is a rugged forward who will bring a lot of athleticism to the court. Sunday is a very intelligent young man who comes from a wonderful supportive family and we are so happy that he decided to become a member of our program.”

Okeye is the fourth member of Wake Forest’s 2017-18 freshman class, joining guard Chaundee Brown (Orlando, Fla.), forward/guard Melo Eggleston (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and center Olivier Sarr (Toulouse, France).
