Shane Muntz recorded Wake Forest's first hit in the eighth inning, blasting his first collegiate homer over the wall in left-center to cut a 3-0 margin to 3-1.
In the ninth, the Deacs put the potential tying run on base with two outs via a Jake Mueller single and Johnny Aiello walk, but Davidson recorded a game-ending strikeout.
The Wildcats started strong with Cam Johnson hitting a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first. A hit by pitch made it 2-0 in the second inning, and after an error in the sixth, Davidson scored its final run on a sacrifice fly.
Despite walking eight batters and hitting three more, Wake Forest pitchers surrendered just three runs thanks to conceding only four hits and striking out 11 hitters.
Tyler Witt didn't allow a hit and struck out three in 2.0 innings. Shane Muntzstruck out a pair in 1.2 shutout frames and Bobby Hearn allowed an unearned run in 0.2 innings.
