Wake Forest junior Stuart Fairchild was named ACC Player of the Week, and a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest outfielder Stuart Fairchild was named the ACC Player of the Week, the organizaton announced on Monday afternoon.
He was also recognized as one of seven National Players of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper for his efforts as the Demon Deacons, now ranked 17th in the nation, went 5-0 last week.
Fairchild hit .500 (11-for-22) last week totaling four homers, three doubles and 14 RBIs over the five games.
In the team's 19-9 win over defending national champion No. 26 Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, Fairchild recorded his first-career multi-homer game, including a grand slam and three-run shot for seven RBIs.
He added a three-RBI effort in a 13-1 win at Elon on Wednesday, then totaled three doubles and two homers in the weekend sweep over Notre Dame.
Fairchild is the only player in the ACC to have double-digit home run (11) and stolen base (10) totals, also hitting .348 with 12 doubles and 41 RBIs.
With Fairchild's selection, Wake Forest has now been recognized in the weekly honors five times - twice for Connor Johnstone and once for Gavin Sheets and Parker Dunshee in addition to Fairchild.
Louisville's Brendan McKay earned Pitcher of the Week honors, allowing just one hit over 8.0 shutout innings with eight strikeouts in a win over Georgia Tech.
Wake Forest is back in action Tuesday, playing host to Charlotte at 6 p.m.
