The Blue Devils evened the series at a game apiece by taking down the Deacs, 7-3, on Saturday.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Stuart Fairchild hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the third inning, but a five-run sixth inning proved to be the undoing for Wake Forest in a 7-3 loss to Duke at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday.

After the Blue Devils (11-10, 3-2 ACC) took advantage of five singles to plate a pair of first-inning runs, Fairchild blasted his seventh longball of the season in the third to plate Logan Harvey and Jonathan Pryor and give Wake Forest (14-6, 3-2 ACC) a 3-2 lead.

But Duke took advantage of a pair of Wake Forest errors, and two-run doubles by Justin Bellinger and Jack Labosky, to plate five runs and pull ahead, 7-3.

Blue Devil pitchers Adam Laskey (2-1), Nick hendrix and Jack Labosky combined to face the minimum over the final five innings, allowing just a Fairchild bunt single in the seventh, which was erased by a double play three pitches later.

Laskey earned the win by allowing three runs on five hits and two walks in 6.0 innings. Hendrix tossed 2.0 scoreless innings, while Labosky struck out a pair in a 1-2-3 ninth.

For Wake Forest, Donnie Sellers (2-1) suffered his first defeat of the season, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks in 5.1 innings. Morgan McSweeney allowed two unearned runs in the sixth, while Drew Loepprich and Chris Farishcombined to throw the final 2.0 hitless innings.

Pryor and Fairchild combined for four of Wake Forest's six hits in the game.

The rubber game between the Demon Deacons and Blue Devils is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
