Farish Inks Contract with Detroit Tigers

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest pitcher Chris Farish signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Tigers and will begin his professional career.

A redshirt senior at Wake Forest in 2018, Farish recorded a 2-0 record and 5.06 ERA in nine appearances this season.

He posted a prolific strikeout rate in his time as a Demon Deacon, fanning 80 batters in 56.2 career innings.

Farish becomes the fourth Deacon to enter the professional ranks, joining draftees Griffin Roberts (Cardinals), Rayne Supple (Rockies) and Johnny Aiello (Blue Jays).

Farish was previously drafted in the 31st round by the Cleveland Indians in 2016 after his redshirt-sophomore campaign, but elected to return to school and was one of the anchors in the bullpen in 2017, helping Wake Forest reach a Super Regional for the second time in program history.

A pair of fellow free-agent signees from recent years is also having success in the minor league ranks. Aaron Fossas signed with the Reds after theh 2016 season and is 3-1 with a 3.71 ERA in High A this year, while Garrett Kelly inked a deal with the Cubs and has a 2.40 ERA in 15.0 innings in A ball.
