No. 13 Wake Forest to Face No. 7 Maryland in NCAA Tournament

The Deacs will play the Terrapins on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. in Durham.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 13 Wake Forest field hockey team earned its way into the 2017 NCAA Tournament and will battle No. 7 Maryland in the first round this Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. in Durham.

The Demon Deacons enter the tournament with a 12-7 overall record and a 3-3 ACC mark. If the Deacs win their first game, they face a potential second-round matchup with No. 2 overall seed Duke. The Blue Devils await the winner of the play-in game between No. 17 Stanford and Miami University.

Wake Forest last played Maryland on Sept. 20, 2013 in a game the Terrapins won, 4-1. The Demon Deacons lost at Duke earlier this season, a 2-1 decision on Oct. 13. The Deacs defeated Miami University, 4-1, on Sept. 22 at Louisville’s Trager Stadium.

Wake Forest is making its 16th overall trip to the NCAA Tournament and have made the field in four of the last five seasons.

For the second consecutive season, six out of seven ACC teams made the tournament.
