Deacs Add Julian Zlobinsky and Bar Botzer

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest men's tennis head coach Tony Bresky announced that Julian Zlobinsky and Bar Botzer have joined the Demon Deacons for the upcoming 2017-18 season.
"We are very excited to add Julian and Bar to our program," said Bresky. "Julian has been a part of a top-10 program for each of his first two years at Texas and he has gained a lot of experience. He's hungry to improve and we are looking forward to working with him. Bar was one of the top players in Israel and has represented his country in Davis Cup on two occasions. Due to NCAA rules Bar has not been able to compete for the last year but he is eager to get back in competitive form. Both players should make an immediate impact on our team this year and we are excited to get on court with them."
Zlobinsky, a native of Greenvale, New York, joins the Deacs after spending his first three seasons at the University of Texas. After redshirting as a freshman in 2014-15, Zlobinsky has played for the Longhorns in each of the last two seasons. Over his two seasons at Texas, Zlobinsky compiled a 31-19 overall record and a 20-9 mark in dual play, playing primarily at the No. 4, 5 and 6 positions.
Prior to joining the Longhorns, Zlobinsky prepped at North Shore High School in New York, where he rose as high as No. 90 in the ITF junior rankings. He won the singles and doubles draws at the ITF Juniors G3 Almaty in Kazakhstan and reached the quarterfinals in the singles draw and won the doubles draw at the 2013 Eddie Herr International Junior Championships in Florida. He joins the Deacs with two years of eligibility remaining.
Botzer, a Tel Aviv, Israel, native, joins the Deacs after climbing as high as No. 28 in the ITF junior rankings and reaching a career-best ranking of 482nd in the ATP World Rankings. He has won 123 career matches, singles and doubles combined, on the ITF Pro Circuit and has been ranked as high as 482 in the ITF professional singles rankings.
While on the ITF Pro Circuit, Botzer won the 2016 Turkey F27 Futures event. Botzer also has experience on the national level, representing his native Israel in the Davis Cup on two separate occasions.
