Wake Forest tied the program record with its 17th ACC win, claiming a series in Tallahassee for the first time since 1993.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- No. 16 Wake Forest clinched the series over No. 25 Florida State with a 10-9 victory at Dick Howser Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The series win is the first for the Demon Deacons (35-16, 17-10 ACC) over the Seminoles (33-20, 12-14 ACC) in Tallahassee since 1993.

Wake Forest also matches the program record for ACC wins in a season with 17, matching the 2002 team which went 17-6 in league play.

Bruce Steel blasted two home runs and totaled five RBIs, while Griffin Roberts earned a 2.2-inning save without surrendering a run.

Jonathan Pryor and Logan Harvey added three hits apiece, while Jake Mueller and Gavin Sheets tallied two hits each.

In the first inning, Pryor and Mueller singled back-to-back to start the game. Sheets, Ben Breazeale and Steel followed with walks to bring home a pair of runs.

FSU took the lead in the second. After a dropped fly ball extended the inning, Taylor Walls hit a two-run triple and Dylan Busby had an RBI bunt single to take a 3-2 advantage.

The Deacs then scored six straight runs. Steel blasted a three-run homer in the third to put the Deacs up 5-3, and RBI singles from Stuart Fairchild and Johnny Aiello plus a run-scoring double play made it 8-3 in the top of the fourth.

Three walks and two singles in the bottom of the fourth cut the margin to 8-6. Chris Farish entered and struck out two of the three batters he faced to keep the Deacs in front.

Another Steel longball and an RBI single by Pryor pushed the lead to 10-6 before Cal Raleigh hit a two-run homer and Taylor Walls had an RBI groundout to make the score 10-9.

Roberts entered in the seventh and got a groundout and strikeout to end the inning as the Seminoles stranded runners at second and third.

In the eighth, Roberts forced a flyout, Breazeale threw out a runner trying to steal, and a Roberts strikeout kept FSU scoreless.

Roberts capped off the save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn his seventh save of the season, and second of the weekend.

Quincy Nieporte went 5-for-5 to lead Florida State. John McCarren earned the win for the Deacs to improve to 5-3, tossing 2.1 innings. FSU starter Drew Parrish surrendered six runs in 3.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 5-3.

Wake Forest plays App State in Shelby on Tuesday evening before returning home for a Thursday-Saturday series against Pitt to close the regular season.
