NEWTON, Mass. - No. 2-ranked Wake Forest men's soccer clinched its third-straight ACC Atlantic Division title with a 4-0 victory over Boston College at the Newton Campus Field Saturday night.

The Demon Deacons (15-1-0, 7-0-0 ACC) entered Saturday's contest needing a win or a tie over Boston College (6-9-0, 1-6-0 ACC) to clinch the title. With the win, the Deacs clinched the division and locked up the top seed in the ACC Tournament, which begins Nov. 1.

The Deacs extend their winning streak to 12 games, the longest since recording 18 straight from the end of 2007 to the start of 2008.

Omir Fernandez got the offense going when he netted his fourth goal of the season with six seconds remaining in the half to put the Deacs up 1-0. The goal, assisted by Logan Gdula and Steven Echevarria, is tied for the fourth-latest goal in the first half in program history, matching Jeremiah White's late shot in 2002 against Maryland.

Fernandez struck again in the 67th minute when he took on a defender and cut inside to find the net by the inside post to give the Deacs a 2-0 lead. Jon Bakero recorded his 13th assist of the season on the goal, tying him for third place in program history for single-season assists.

Justin McMaster extended the Deacs lead to 3-0 when he rebounded a shot from Fernandez to find the back of the net himself. It was the second goal of the season for McMaster, who scored in the 8-0 victory over Longwood on Oct. 10.

With Boston College down a man due to a red card, Ema Twumasi lengthened the Deacs' lead to 4-0 when Brandon Servania fed him the ball and he shot to the far post. The assist was Servania's ninth of the year, which moves him into a tie for third by a freshman in a single season.

The Deacs recorded their eighth shutout of the season while the shutout is the fourth-straight for keeper Andreu Cases Mundet. The current shutout streak of 403:24 is the second streak of over 300 minutes this season and fifth under head coach Bobby Muuss.

Both teams finished the night with nine shots, though Wake Forest held a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal. Fernandez and Twumasi led the Deacs with three shots each.
