Graduate transfers Jonah Antonio, Ian DuBose and Jalen Johnson earned this honor for the Demon Deacons.
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Three members of the Wake Forest men's basketball team were named to the Academic All-ACC Team, as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.
With graduate transfers Jonah Antonio, Ian DuBose and Jalen Johnson picking up this esteemed accolade, three Demon Deacons marked the most student-athletes honored in a single season in program history. The group of graduate transfers have added leadership and continued their development under Wake Forest first-year head coach Steve Forbes.
For DuBose, the recognition is one of many. During a successful undergrad career at Houston Baptist, DuBose was the 2019-20 Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Year, a 2019-20 First Team Academic All-Southland Conference selection, member of the 2019-20 NABC Honors Court, a 2018-19 Second Team Academic All-Southland Conference selection and a member of the 2018-19 NABC Honors Court.
After sitting out for 74 days during the season, DuBose re-entered the starting lineup for the Deacs in just his second game back and has continued to execute at a high level, averaging 11.2 points in 24.6 minutes per game. He is also first on the team in steals per game with 1.5 and second in assists with 2.4 a game.
Antonio is a known sharp shooter, leading the team from 3-point range. He is shooting a team-high 40 percent from beyond the arc for the Demon Deacons. He has made two or more three’s in nine games this season.
Johnson has added a spark off the bench for the Deacs in his grad year, appearing in 20 of 21 games with five starts. He has scored in double-figures four times and leads the team defensively with 11 blocked shots. He has also chipped in nine steals and is averaging 2.5 rebounds per game.
