Just a few quick notes before I put a couple of longer articles together for you folks:
- Today's practice was in helmets only, with little contact.
- CB Bryant Gross-Armiento will out until at least October, although rehab is going well.
- CB Brad Watson was participating, fully back from the injury that kept him sidelined during Spring Practice.
- Taking 1st-string offense line reps were Justin Herron, Tyler Hayworth, Josh Harris, Dylan Intemann and Phil Haynes. I guess they just couldn't find another first-string offensive line guy who's name started with H.
- Nearly a dozen guys were taking kickoff return reps today, at one time including the trio of freshman running backs Tyler Bell, Rocky Reid and Matt Colburn.
- All three scholarship quarterbacks threw solid balls during the day. I wasn't here for last year's spring and fall camp, but it's quite a stark contrast, I've been told.
- Placekicker Adam Centers had off-season surgery on his right leg/foot and it's still in a cast. I was told he should be ready for the start of the season.
- Several freshmen (including QB Kyle Kearns) had class this morning that meant they had to leave just a little after 7 a.m. It was the last day for these summer courses, with the next two days being finals for those enrolled.
- South Carolina transfer K.J. Brent really stood out just from a pure size perspective. His 6-foot-4 frame towers over many of the other players, and he made a couple nice grabs today.
