Baseball Gameday: Wake Forest vs. USC
Wake Forest welcomes 12-time national champions Southern Cal to Winston-Salem for a three-game series this weekend.

The Matchup
• Wake Forest welcomes 12-time national champions Southern California to Winston-Salem for a three-game series from Feb. 24-26.

Last Time Out
• Wake Forest’s bats came to life in a 15-8 victory over area rival UNCG. Wake Forest tallied 18 hits on the day, including a 5-for-5 effort with a double, home run and five RBIs from senior Jonathan Pryor.
Stuart Fairchild also homered and had two hits, while Logan Harvey, Ben Breazeale, Johnny Aiello and Jake Mueller pitched in with multi-hit efforts as well.

Wake Forest Storylines
• The Demon Deacons are coming off their first NCAA Tournament season in nine years, as they qualified for the College Station Regional a year ago and knocked off Minnesota in the opening game. Wake Forest earned three total wins in postseason play, also defeating Virginia and Duke at the ACC Championship.
• Despite losing D1Baseball National Player of the Year Will Craig, a first-round pick of the Pirates, and All-American Nate Mondou, a 13th-round pick of the A’s, Wake Forest does return all five of its regular starting pitchers, as well as five starting position players. Draftees Parker Dunshee (Cubs - 14th round) and Chris Farish (Indians - 31st round) elected to return to Wake Forest for the 2017 season. Dunshee, as well as outfielder Stuart Fairchild, earned Preseason All-America honors.
• Thanks to his complete game, one-hit shutout on Feb. 17, Connor Johnstone was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week.

Opponent And Series History
• Wake Forest and USC are meeting for the second-straight year in a home-and-home series. Last year, the Trojans took two-of-three from the Deacs in Los Angeles. The teams also met twice in the 1949 College World Series, with Wake Forest claiming both games.
• USC enters with a perfect 4-0 record after sweeping Coppin State last weekend and beating Long Beach State on Tuesday.

Looking Ahead
• Wake Forest continues its nine-game homestand on Tuesday, playing host to Davidson at 4 p.m.
