Deacon rookies Bobby Seymour, Chris Lanzilli and DJ Poteet earned the honor from Collegiate Baseball.
TUCSON, Ariz. – Wake Forest first baseman Bobby Seymour and outfielders Chris Lanzilli and DJ Poteet were named Freshman All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball on Wednesday morning.
Seymour started 52 games for the Demon Deacons, batting .286 with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 32 RBIs.
The St. John, Indiana native had a 13-game hitting streak from March 20 to April 9, the longest for any Deacon this year. All seven of his home runs came against ACC foes, including Louisville, North Carolina, Duke (twice), Clemson, NC State and Virginia.
He greatly improved defensively throughout the season, as well, committing just one error over his final 27 games to increase his fielding percentage from .954 to .977.
Lanzilli finished the year with a .268 average, leading the team with 13 doubles and finishing tied for the team-high with nine home runs.
In 30 games in April and May, Lanzilli batted .318 with 12 doubles, all nine of his home runs and 32 RBIs.
Poteet batted .255 with seven doubles, nine home runs and 28 RBIs, as well as five stolen bases and a .993 fielding percentage in center field.
He hit walk-off home runs in both of his first two ACC series to beat top-15 opponents Florida State and Louisville.The trio become the first Freshman All-Americans at Wake Forest since Stuart Fairchild earned the honor in 2015.
