The Demon Deacons tallied eight doubles - most since 2016 - and tallied an eight-run seventh inning in the victory.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest's bats came to life in a 15-5 win over Davidson at David F. Couch Ballpark on Tuesday night.

The Demon Deacons (12-17) roped eight doubles in a game for the first time since 2016, including two apiece from Chris Lanzilli and Patrick Frick. Shane Muntz added a homer, double and three RBIs as the Deacs totaled their highest scoring output of the season.

The Wildcats (18-10) jumped out to leads of 3-0 and 5-2, but a four-run fourth inning put Wake Forest in front and an eight-run seventh pushed the game out of reach.

Wake Forest pitchers also held Davidson scoreless over the final five innings. Shane Muntz allowed a fourth-inning homer but kept the Wildcats off the board in the fifth and sixth to earn the win, while Tyler Witt, William Fleming and Rhyse Deefollowed with scoreless innings.

Davidson scored first with a three-run Zach Nussbaum homer in the second, but Muntz answered with a two-run shot in the bottom of the inning.

The Wildcats received solo homers from Eric Jones and Justin Lebek in the third and fourth innings before the Deacs pulled ahead for good in the fourth.

Lanzilli, Christian Long and Frick each doubled in the fourth to plate three runs, and another scored on a passed ball as Wake Forest took the 6-5 advantage.

Twelve Deacons came to the plate in the seventh inning, a frame in which the Deacs scored eight runs on seven hits, including four two-baggers. Aiello, Muntz, Lanzilli and Logan Harvey all doubled, while Bobby Seymour, DJ Poteet and Jake Mueller singled.

Long added an RBI single in the eighth inning to cap off the scoring for the Deacs.

Seymour and Lanzilli tallied three hits apiece while Frick, Mueller, Muntz and Long each recorded two. All nine starters had at least one hit, as well as two off the bench.

Wake Forest is back in action on Wednesday night, traveling to Liberty for a 6 p.m. game on ESPN3.
