WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest fell to UNCG by an 11-5 margin at David F. Couch Ballpark on Wednesday evening.

After the Demon Deacons (3-6) led 4-2 following the second inning, the Spartans (5-3) outscored Wake Forest by a 10-1 margin the rest of the way.

Six Spartans had multi-hit games, led by four-hit efforts by Austin Embler and Cesar Trejo, while Andrew Moritz and Jake Kusz also homered for UNCG.

Johnny Aiello went 3-for-5 with a triple and RBI to lead the Deacs, while Chris Lanzilli added a pair of ihts.

The Deacs drew eight walks in the game while surrendering just two, but Wake Forest went 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on base compared to eight for UNCG.

Moritz homered in the top of the first to put the Spartans up, 2-0, but Wake Forest answered back quickly. Shane Muntz hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first. Then in the second inning, Jake Mueller and Patrick Frick hit RBI groundouts to put Wake Forest ahead, and Aiello drilled an RBI single to make the score 4-2.

UNCG tied it with a pair of runs in the third and took the lead for good in the fourth. The Deacs were within three heading to the ninth before Kusz's three-run homer capped the scoring for the Spartans.

Jack Maynard (2-1) earned the win for UNCG in relief. Andrew Wantz retired all six Deacs he faced to record the save. Muntz (0-1) took the loss for Wake Forest.

The Deacs remain at home this weekend, playing host to UMass Lowell in a three-game series Friday-Sunday.
