Wake Forest Spring Game set for Saturday at BB&T Field

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest will hold its annual football Spring Game on Saturday, April 6 at 3 p.m. at BB&T Field. Admission is free and the game is open to the public.



The Spring Game will offer fans an opportunity to get a sneak peek at the 2019 Demon Deacon football team. The Spring Game is part of #BigDeaconWeekend which includes the 17th-ranked Demon Deacon women’s tennis team hosting NC State Friday at 4 p.m. at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex. The Wake Forest baseball team hosts Virginia Tech in a three-game series at David F. Couch Ballpark beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m.



During Saturday’s Spring Game, the offense will wear black jerseys and black pants with the defense in white jerseys and white pants. The first two quarters of the scrimmage will be 10 minutes of regular clock time. After halftime, each quarter will be 10 minutes running time.



Aaron Curry and Riley Skinner will serve as guest coaches this year. Curry, a starting linebacker for Wake Forest from 2005-08, was the recipient of the 2008 Dick Butkus Award as the nation’s best linebacker. Skinner, the winningest quarterback in school history with 31 victories, was a four-year starter for the Demon Deacons, leading Wake Forest to the 2006 ACC Championship. He holds school records for career passing yards (9,762), completions (903), passing touchdowns (60) and completion percentage (66.9).



Skinner and Curry were teammates on Wake Forest’s ACC Championship team in 2006.



For the Spring Game, Gate 1 at BB&T Field will open for fans starting at 2:00 pm. Parking is free and fans are encouraged to use the Gold, Blue and Red lots for the event. The Clear Bag policy will be in effect for the Spring Game at BB&T Field.



Following the scrimmage, fans will be allowed on the field to meet the team and coaches and collect autographs. Fans are encouraged to take photos of their favorite players following the scrimmage. New this year, children age 12 and under will have the unique opportunity to catch a touchdown pass from a Wake Forest quarterback.



While photos and video of the actual scrimmage is strictly prohibited, fans are encouraged to post tailgating photos and selfies in the crowd on Twitter and Instagram using the #GoDeacs to see their photos on the video board throughout the event.



Wake Forest Athletics Marketing will have free promotional items available inside Gate 1 including ticket vouchers to the first 500 fans good for free admission to the Wake Forest baseball games against Virginia Tech scheduled for Saturday (4 pm) and Sunday’s series finale at 1:00 pm. The first of two 2019 Wake Forest football poster designs will also be available to the first 1,000 fans entering through Gate 1. Wake Forest Baptist Health will have giveaways and fans will be able to learn more about ticket plans for the upcoming season. Tailgate Guys and the Deacon Shop will also be set up at Gate 1. Concession stands will be open on the West Side Concourse and a free Kids Zone will be available (weather permitting) between Section 10 and Deacon Hill.



Season ticket renewals will also be available at the ticket sales table located inside Gate 1 and recipients of the many Early Renewal Incentives available over the past month will be announced during the

event.



At halftime, many former Demon Deacon players will be recognized and any players who have not yet registered should do so by contacting the Deacon Club at (336) 758-2588.
