Tournament runs Nov. 17-20 in St. Thomas, USVI

ST. THOMAS, USVI –
Wake Forest will play Drake in the first round of the 2017 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam on Friday, Nov. 17, at the Sports and Fitness Center at the University of the Virgin Islands on the island of St. Thomas. The bracket for the eight-team tournament was announced Tuesday (Apr. 18).

The Wake Forest-Drake game is one of four games on the opening day of the tournament. Game times and broadcast designations for the tournament will be announced later in the summer.

The game will be the first all-time meeting between the Demon Deacons and Bulldogs. It will be Wake Forest’s first contest against a Missouri Valley Conference foe in over 30 years, last playing Bradley in the 1985 Rainbow Classic in Hawaii.

The winner of the Wake Forest-Drake game will play the winner of an opening round game between Colorado and Quinnipiac in the tournament semifinals on Nov. 19.

Other opening round games are Houston vs. Drexel and Mercer vs. Liberty.

Wake Forest is making its second appearance in the Paradise Jam. The Demon Deacons finished seventh at the 2012 tournament, defeating Mercer in their final game after losses to Connecticut and Iona.
