Kortni Simmons and Destini Walker will no longer be with the program after being medically disqualified
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest women’s basketball coach Jen Hoover announced Sunday (Aug. 12) that Kortni Simmons and Destini Walker will no longer be with the program after both were medically disqualified earlier this summer.
“I’m grateful for all that Kortni and Destini have invested and accomplished on the basketball court and in the classroom during their time as a Demon Deacon,” said Hoover. “They both fought through adversity due to their passion for their teammates, our program and Wake Forest University. Kortni and Destini will be deeply missed, and we wish them the best.”
Simmons, who would have been a redshirt junior this upcoming season, was forced to step aside due to multiple foot fracture over the course of her first three years on campus. Walker, who also would have been a redshirt junior next year, had multiple left knee surgeries.
