Senior Ariel Stephenson will miss the entire 2018-19 season after undergoing successful shoulder surgery
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest women’s basketball head coach Jen Hoover announced Tuesday (Oct. 2) that senior Ariel Stephenson will miss the upcoming season after undergoing successful shoulder surgery last week.
“While we are disappointed that Ariel will be unable to play for us this season, we are encouraged that the surgery was successful and that she can make a full recovery,” said Hoover. “We look forward to her supporting the team this season and can't wait to have her back for the 2019-20 season.”
A native of Prince George, Virginia, Stephenson will exercise her redshirt year this season and return to the court in time for the 2019-2020 schedule.
Stephenson ranks 25th in program history with 1,040 career points while her 142 three-pointers rank tied for sixth all-time. Through her first three years, Stephenson has appeared in 92 of Wake Forest’s 96 games and has started in 79 contests.
Wake Forest begins the 2018-19 season on Tuesday, November 6 at home against Towson. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the LJVM Coliseum.
