Usually ESPN provides terrible coverage or understanding of what's actually happening with Wake athletics, but this story included some very interesting information about Wake's S&C status. Essentially our strength scores as a team were worse than Clawson had ever seen at the collegiate level. That's unacceptable and I think telling of two things: why we were so thoroughly dominated in the trenches, and how far Grobe had let this program slide. We knew it was bad because of a lot of blowouts, but this is the underlying cause. They completely packed it in from a preparation standpoint. Very disappointing.
That being said, considering how disadvantaged Clawson was coming into this season with this roster, the fact that we played as well as we did and actually hung around for most games is a testament to his coaching staff's ability, IMO. He will continue to recruit his butt off and develop these guys in the weight room and I'm excited for the future of the program.
