The redshirt junior wide receiver lands on his second award watch list this preseason.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Wake Forest wide receiver Jaquarii Roberson was named to the Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List, announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation on Thursday morning.
The award is annually presented to college football’s most outstanding receiver, regardless of position. Earlier this week, Roberson was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List.
Roberson was also named to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List after a career performance last season against North Carolina and joins a long lineage of wide receivers who have received recognition from the Biletnikoff. This marks the fourth consecutive year a Demon Deacon pass catcher has landed on the award’s watch list (Sage Surratt, Jaquarii Roberson - 2020, Scotty Washington, Sage Surratt- 2019, Greg Dortch- 2018).
Overall, Roberson proved he is one of the best wide receivers in the ACC and the country last season, registering one of the best offensive seasons in Wake Forest history, earning Second Team All-America honors from Pro Football Focus.
The Murfreesboro, N.C. native ranked in the top 10 in Wake Forest's single season records in receiving yards (926) and receiving touchdowns (8). Additionally, he tied a program record by finishing the 2020 campaign with four-straight 100-yard receiving yard games. In the Duke's Mayo Bowl, Roberson reeled in three touchdowns on his first three targets of the game, setting a new Demon Deacon record.
His 102.9 receiving yards per game were a program record and he was the only receiver in the ACC to have an average of over 100 yards in 2020.
Heading into the 2021 campaign, PFF ranked Roberson as the No. 6 wide receiver in the country and has received All-American honors from Pro Football Focus and Athlon Sports, as well as First Team All-ACC honors from multiple outlets.
The semifinalists, finalists, and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers.
