The Demon Deacons played their annual game at BB&T BallPark, home of the Charlotte Knights
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wake Forest baseball fell to Charlotte, 13-1, Tuesday evening at BB&T BallPark.
Bobby Seymour led the Demon Deacons (7-10) offensively with two hits while Jake Mueller and Michael Ludowig each chipped in a hit.
Carter Bach (0-2) took the loss for the Demon Deacons after allowing four runs. Cole McNamee and William Fleming held the 49ers without a hit in the final two innings.
The 49ers (9-7) managed 14 hits, including seven doubles, while Tommy Bullock, Reece Hampton and Harris Yett each recorded three-hit games. Chase Gooding earned the win on the mound after allowing just one run on three hits in 4.0 innings pitched.
Charlotte jumped out to an early 4-0 start in the first inning. The 49ers then added two runs in the second inning, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and four in the seventh en route to the 13-1 victory.
The Deacons’ lone run came in the third inning when Johnny Aiello plated DJ Poteet.
Sophomore Chase Mascolo made his first career start for the Demon Deacons.
Up next, Wake Forest returns to ACC play and will host Louisville this weekend. First pitch on Friday is set for 6 p.m. at David F. Couch Ballpark.
