Said the issues on offense from the first three game caught up with them, turning it over and not scoring TDs in the red zone, six red zone trips and just three TDs, got to stop turning the ball over, seven times in three games.

Said defensively misleading film, 69 plays, in 59 plays gave up 180 yds, 10 players gave up 344 yards. Said they had an issue last year starting in the ND D and lost eye discipline and the ball was going over the top, said it was up and down the rest of the year. Tulane and Towson gave up big plays. 10 explosives and six for TDs.

Clawson said the run D was fine, but giving up the deep shots is what cost them against BC.

Clawson said that coach Lea has learned the defense well at BG and WF under Elko and that they know how they are going to play this week on D. Said ND plays three SR LBs and they do some creative things with them, will be a huge challenge. Said the whole D is loaded up like ND traditionally is.

Clawson said the QB Wimbush is a freak and does a lot of things with the ball in his hands to make plays. Said he would also be the best tailback on the team and he outruns angles and has a strong arm and can throw it deep. They push it downfield and he makes all the throws. Said their WRs are the size of WF's DEs and they box guys out downfield. The OL is good and they are a top 10 team and they are excited for the opportunity.

Clawson said some of the red zone issues are the lack of big plays scoring and that many of the drives are long drives and lack of focus and beating guys one-on-one in the red zone. Too many drops. Said special teams kept them alive in the BC game, the fumble recovery and the blocked punt for a TD kept the BC game closer.

Clawson said he has worked with the defense more this year and he spent this week working with the DBs and making sure their checks are correct. Said the communication hasn't been what it should be, said they miss Jessie Bates, said that Glenn needs to be more vocal and Wade needs to get comfortable and make sure everyone is on the same page in the back end. Said for 3 1/2 years when the D was good they had an alpha doing that back there and said if they are wrong be wrong together, even if the coverage or check is wrong, if you are all doing the same thing you have a chance. Haven't been lucky with injuries and getting freshmen like Nassir Greer lined up. Said they miss Coby and Luke who are vocal back there, expect Luke to be back this week.

ON QB

Said Kendall Hinton is fluid, can do many things. He is excited to play FB again. He will play on Saturday, said he is one of the most dynamic guys on the FB team. Said that two most dynamic guys are Greg Dortch and Kendall and they need him involved somewhere.

ON WASHINGTON

Said he is hopeful he will play, said they are overplaying the WRs, too many snaps there.
